Christo and Jeanne-Claude - and AT&T

AT&T has a commercial out right now that shows the entire United States being covered with orange fabric:

Remind you of anything? Id est:

Christo and Jeanne-Claude
had an eerily similar installation in Central Park 2005 titled, "The Gates". So similar, in fact, that AT&T felt the need (was obligated?) to put a disclaimer on the imagery used in their commercial:

The disclaimer text reads:

"The artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude have no direct or inderect affiliation or involvement with AT&T"

Ummmm... I would argue that they do at least have a connection with AT&T. That connection being that AT&T blatantly ripped off their artwork. Gross.

Michael Kontopoulos

I came across some guy named Michael Kontopoulos' website today. He has some really great stuff.

First, a set of machines that almost knock themselves over, aptly titled: Machines that Almost Fall Over:

Then, there's the machine that strikes one of two wood blocks each time 1) the artist blinked during the movie The Conversation, or 2) The editor made a cut in the same film. When the two sync, we get treated with a tiny cymbol crash:

And, finally the artist attempts to capture what he is missing when he blinks so that he could "experience the world in its totality":
