I bought a new iPod Touch on Sunday to replace my old one which got swiped sometime last month.

All was going well until iTunes asked me if I wanted to buy the new 3.0 software upgrade for $10. This is the same software that they have been advertising for months!

I figured that maybe when I had restored my old iPod's settings to my new one, it had reverted the OS. But a call to Apple Support this morning confirmed that isn't the case. New iPod's come with the two-year-old operating system.

WTF?
