Powerbook 160

thumb.jpgMy neighbor found an old laptop of hers the other day and asked me if I could help in destroying any info "in the memory". She was worried that the wrong person might get their hands on the hard drive and use the information on it maliciously.

When she dropped if off today though, I had no idea how sweet of a machine it would be. It's a 1992 Apple Macintosh Powerbook 160.

Specs:

  • 25 MHz Processor
  • 10 in, 4-bit Grayscale monitor (first of its kind)
  • 4 MB RAM
  • 80 MB ROM (in this case upgraded to a whopping 160)

Awesome. But the real beauty is in the design. Look at that trackball! And, I don't think I got any good pictures of them, but there are two HUGE dials on the back that can be turned such that the back of the computer is elevated - presumably making the 63 key keyboard more ergonomic.

It's a thing of beauty. Be sure to check out the third picture in which I inadvertently captured my equally (or perhaps more) antiquated 8-bit NES system.
